Dental scaling is the procedure of removing hardened plaque, also known as tartar, from the surfaces of the teeth using special instruments. When proper oral hygiene is not maintained, bacterial plaque gradually hardens into tartar, which can lead to gum diseases. Through dental scaling, these deposits are eliminated, helping to prevent gum inflammation and tooth loss. In addition, the procedure provides a feeling of freshness in the mouth and reduces bad breath. It is generally recommended to be performed every six months.
